Mothers Union - Bathford Branch
The Mothers Union is the largest Mission organisation in the Anglican Union with 4 million members in 83 countries.
The Bathford branch of the Mothers' Union was active in the parish for many years until it closed due to a decline in membership. Shirley Penn, the wife of Christopher Penn revived the Mothers Union in January 1988 and the membership rose to about 30. It remained active until the end of 2005. When the Bathford branch closed some of the members joined the Deanery Branch.
A Ladies' Friendship Group formed as a replacement at St Swithuns, open to all ladies in the parish (and men if interested). The Friendship Group continues to meet monthly for talks and discussions and is well supported.
